We went to the aquarium today and decided to go for a mermaid theme complete with glittery scales.
Very regularly people will comment on Autumn’s hair. I’m often asked if I curl it myself. It took her 3 years to even grow hair and when it came in this was what it was like. I don’t curl it. I don’t even brush it. It terrifies me. When it gets crazy we spray it with water and maybe put a little hair milk in it to calm it down a little bit. Her hair is crazy and fantastic.
The other comment that usually comes with, “do you curl it yourself?” is “she looks like Shirley Temple!”
On the morning of Day 4 a friend posted on my facebook wall that she had just watched a Shirley Temple film and thought of Autumn. Perfect!
It blows my mind seeing a teeny Shirley Temple sing and dance. I can’t fathom how a child that age is taught or able to focus like that… I seriously just told Autumn to take her straw out her nose.
Autumn is a bit of a Star Wars fan these day. We threw a Star Wars themed birthday for Stuart this year and the fascination has kind of stuck – she must have had a really fun day!
Day 3 she wanted Princess Leia makeup so I showed her Queen Amidala and she loved that – and still insisted it was Leia.
I’m not sure where it came from but the next day after our one off face painting Autumn really wanted a “lightening bowl” on her face. Hello, Ziggy Stardust!
Autumn got into my make up a couple of times this last month so I gave her a little Mary Kay eyeshadow palette that’s been sitting on a shelf forever. I love her curiosity and want to nurture that. Curiosity turns into creativity which becomes a zest for something, which is completely encouraged in our home, even at the expense of my Urban Decay eyeshadows.
Day 1, which was never expected to go any further than just one day found Autumn becoming a little deer.
