I have had a truly fantastic year designing and I’m so excited for 2014 and to see what shenanigans I get up to then! Thank you all so much for the projects, the referrals, the ideas, the loyalty, the encouragement throughout 2013. I love my clients and everyone who participates on my Sugar Grenade Designs business page on Facebook. I love seeing what you do with your finished projects and hearing how happy they make you and the people you give them to.
Here’s kissing 2013 goodbye (with a little tongue, because it was so good) and opening my arms to 2014. 2014 and I are going to be bosom buddies.
Autumn O’s 2nd birthday is this week and as I’ve been wrapping my mind around the fact I need to start making her next year book I’ve been working on a print for her room.
I’ve spend 2013 finding balance, as was my goal for the year – and I think I’ve been really successful! Finding balance has helped me to also find my style. I think this print, which will likely be one of the last I design this year, is the icing on the cake. It’s my style, it’s my favourite colour (hello Pantone colour of the Year!) It’s my trophy print for the year. Balance. Autumn. Typographic. Colour.
Up until last night I didn’t think the words existed to describe how being a wife and mother feels – when “I love you” just doesn’t cut it…
“You are the trip I did not take, you are the pearls I could not buy,
you are my blue Italian lake, you are my piece of foreign sky.
You are my Honolulu moon, you are the book I did not write,
you are my heart’s unuttered tune, you are a candle in my night.
You are the flower beneath the snow, in my dark sky a bit of blue,
answering disappointment’s blow with “I am happy! I have you!”

All my prints can be adjusted to be used on holiday cards.
Today is the first day of our Christmas break as a family. Finals are being taken, projects are being submitted, and hopefully we’ll have a lunch date and some Christmas shopping too! I love this time of year, everything about it. I love it all.
I love Christmas so much I’m giving you this print for free in two colourways.
I know, I know! I’m late to the Duck Dynasty party but here I am and I’m staying! My oldest brother came over to visit me from Wales for two weeks and we spent a week watching all 3 seasons. I love it THAT much.
This is a Phil quote, and all round good advice.
I’m not done with the chalkboard fad. I might just be getting started…
